How to play

Chess

Play legal international chess against a casual computer or a friend. White moves first. Castle when legal, capture en passant and choose a promotion piece before advancing a pawn to its final rank.

Checkmate wins. Stalemate, insufficient material, threefold repetition and the fifty-move rule are draws. The computer calculates its moves locally on your device.

A little strategy

Develop toward the center and check whether a piece is defended before you capture it.

Tap a piece, then a highlighted destination. Use arrow keys to move focus and Enter or Space to choose. Undo restores your whole turn, including the computer reply. Changing mode starts a new game.
